019: Dr Mary Lucus-Flannery – Make Your Story Amazeballz

Listen to the Episode Below

Dr. Mary Lucus-Flannery – Make Your Story Amazeballz

Mary is obsessed with Story. (She even capitalizes “Story” like it is a proper noun! Because it SHOULD be a proper noun. It’s that important.)

Mary got a random job working at a chiropractic school (because she needed to pay her bills). Whoa! Chiropractic really turned Mary’s world view around and brought all kinds of new ideas up. She eventually decided to become a chiropractor herself (even though all the science-y stuff freaked her out a little), graduated chiropractic school in 2000.

Mary now works full time as the Dean of Enrollment at a chiropractic college in California. She travels extensively, giving presentations to chiropractors and potential chiropractors. She oversees marketing, communications, outreach, recruitment and admissions. She practices the art of story every day in print materials, writing, speaking, teaching and personal connection. The world is her “think tank” and she is always looking for partners in storytelling.

Mary created the Art of Story project because she saw a need for this kind of work in her profession. She is certain that story really is like a magic elixir that makes everything better. She started teaching the online class and people got results. As she began integrating story into everything she watched those things get better and more effective. Now she is working on the Art of Story book.
